EFT for decluttering your mind
What’s the first thing that you think of when you hear the word ‘clutter’? Probably a pile of things that have accumulated over time and that are not often used.
These are ‘physical’ things but did you know that our excessive thoughts, beliefs and memories can also accumulate over time as ‘mental clutter’?
This mental clutter takes up space in our minds and it doesn’t always serve a healthy purpose. Join me in a quest to tap out this clutter – using EFT - thereby making room for healthy life-lasting positive thoughts and memories.
How a cluttered mind affects our mental health
We know that mental clutter is just stored-up excessive thoughts, beliefs and memories. But do you know that these are all linked to certain emotions?
Holding onto these emotions can lead to anxiety, stress, a sense of being overwhelmed and many other issues that we experience on a daily basis.
Emotional freedom technique looks to address these at a deeper level for a holistic approach to emotional, mental, physical and spiritual therapy. According to psychoneuroimmunology (PNI), this latest mind-body connection study has proven that when emotional issues that we have held onto are cleared, physical symptoms can also start to disappear.
EFT for decluttering your space
Where mental ‘clutter’ takes up space in our minds, physical clutter can up take up literal space in our homes.
This can be just about anything that we hold onto tightly and that we either never let go of or never get round to using.
Here EFT would help you to tap on things such as procrastination, avoidance, the creation of new habits and so on, forcing you to really think about what you need and what you want to keep.
How a cluttered space affects our mental health
Having to live in a house that’s filled with cluttered spaces (like a desk for studying, for example) can contribute to a sense of feeling overwhelmed. It can also be a factor when it comes to anxiety, stress, a lack of motivation, unproductivity, and sleep.
Because of the mental and physical energy needed to actively clear away clutter, a person can look at the accumulation as a positive thing. EFT looks at the underlying factors when it comes to clutter and tries to address them.
